Speakers Bank is proud to have been a part of the Daughters of the West Program. We were invited to speak at the RecWest Footscray Centre recently with Loretta Martin as guest speaker and supported by our Victoria University Work placement Team of Joel, Leanne and Rubina.
Loretta gave a presentation about her role as a full time carer for her late husband. It was a clear and engaging presentation. She is a truly inspirational woman who tells a story of love and hope and how to face life’s challenges. Her story is about how to turn a sad life changing event into a positive and live life to the full.
Zoe Cetinich, Coordinator of that particular session said:
“Loretta was absolutely amazing! I had participants still talking about her presentation this week. She was a highlight for the whole 10-week program.”
Some take home messages that strongly resonated with our participants included:
- How to make a decision about being a carer.
- Self-care practices
- Researching your local support services.
- Simply being inspired by her story
Thank you Zoe and all who loved our talk.
