The project has finally taken off the ground! Speakers Bank is happy to have found a partner in Wear for Success (WFS) providing quality clothing to member-volunteers of Speakers Bank. A Memorandum of Agreement was confirmed in 2014 and only commenced recently. This is a special arrangement provided by WFS to Speakers Bank as most of their clients are people who are looking for work and needed some support in terms of preparing for their interview and needing clothing for their jobs. Both Speakers Bank and WFS share the same mission of assisting individuals to find meaningful ways of maximising their talents and abilities through provision of quality service to those who needed it the most.
Wear For Success (WFS) team are friendly and professional in dealing with Storm Robbins who is the first recipient of the clothes. One good customer experience that can be mentioned was how Storm Robbins felt after he had been suited up for the first time in his life. He felt professional and more dignified, more confident to present himself to the corporate audience. Tim and Muriel (volunteers of WFS) were very good with their tips on how he could mix-match his outfit’s colours and gave him more grooming tips to improve how he presents himself to other people. Karen who manages reception and admin explained how the process works, putting Storm and his mum at ease during the first visit.
Storm is also looking for employment aside from currently doing volunteer work as a public speaker with Speakers Bank. WFS has provided him an opportunity to avail of their career coaching and success program. Storm believes that the topics included in the program are relevant and really fits into what he is looking for, aside from the fact that he will be able to engage with industry stakeholders who are running the sessions. Being in the program will enable him to up-skill and be up to date on what employers are looking for. This only shows that disability is not a barrier to achieve one’s success. The other speakers are to be booked to come in for their fitting sessions in the next few months.
